In their final term, from January to May, students in the Commercial Real Estate, Entrepreneurship, Professional Sales & Marketing, and Tourism Management options must complete a Directed Studies Project to demonstrate that they have mastered the practical application of their classroom learning.
The project requires a team of three students—acting as consultants—to work on a practical marketing challenge for a sponsoring firm, with guidance from a Faculty Advisor. The project must:
Over the years, the benefits of these projects to both students and sponsors have been significant. Sponsors gain valuable marketing information and ideas. Many students obtain employment with firms impressed by their project work. Sponsors are encouraged to acknowledge the quality and value of the results directly to the students. The fact that many firms, both large and small, submit project requests year after year is evidence of their satisfaction.
