introduction to the BCIT archives and special collections

British Columbia Institute of Technology

The BCIT Archives and Special Collections is located on the main floor of the Burnaby Campus Library in Room 207.

The Archives mandate is to acquire records which contain evidence and information about the institution's history, organization, function and structure. These include:

  • records created, received and accumulated by the various governing bodies of the BCIT;
  • records of activities from groups such as the Alumni Association, Student Society and Faculty and Staff Association, which reflect the life of the BCIT community; and
  • records of historical significance detailing BCIT’s growth from the late 1950’s to the present.
Special Collections includes the BCIT Theses Collection and special thematic or media-based collections that contain both archival, published and unpublished material.

The BCIT Archives and Special Collections will serve research and scholarship by making these records available to researchers, institute personnel, students, faculty and the general public.
