BCIT has recently approved a Diploma of Trades Training for apprentices who have completed their technical training at BCIT on or after April 1, 2003.
The Diploma provides formal academic recognition of trades qualification and workplace learning. This may enable trades-qualified individuals to further their studies and to pursue other post secondary education and credentials.
The Diploma of Trades Training will be granted to apprentices who have fulfilled the requirements for a trade qualification (IP/TQ) in British Columbia, including successful completion of all levels of technical training, and completion of the appropriate number of workplace training hours for their individual trade. Apprentices must have completed the highest level of apprentice technical training at BCIT on or after April 1, 2003.
