Support
There are three BCIT groups that support and guide faculty through the research process at BCIT:
- Applied Research Liaison Office (ARLO) assists with the development of research proposals, sourcing and securing funding for research activities, and liaising with private industry and public-funded clients/sponsors.
ARLO also offers technology transfer services to assist researchers at BCIT and industry partners. These include conducting technology assessments, drafting confidentiality agreements, protecting intellectual property, and licensing new technologies.
The Commercialization Assistance Program (CAP) brings together and enhances BCIT’s applied research activities, prototyping facilities and commercialization resources to create a one stop solution that includes services to help improve local economic development and innovation, and to increase the chance of success for BC entrepreneurs and SME's as they move along their commercialization paths.
- The Technology Centre has been securing, conducting and delivering on contract and grant funded research projects since 1986. This group of experienced researchers is an excellent resource for other research groups at BCIT.
- School Research Committees: Each BCIT School will have a research committee to assist researchers in establishing school research priorities, identifying collaborative opportunities for research, and shaping the support services being developed for research at BCIT. The school research committees also play an important role in BCIT’s research process.
