James McCartney has joined the Applied Research Liaison Office (ARLO) to promote BCIT’s Commercialization Assistance Programs (CAPs). As part of the CAPs team, James will be connecting BC inventors and innovators to the commercialization and research resources available throughout BCIT. He is focused to bring together students, industry and BCIT’s talent.

James McCartney has spent the last seven years focused on entrepreneurship, technology and business. He is interested in innovation, marketing, commercialization and loves to contribute to transforming ideas into real products and services. James is an active alumni of BCIT’s entrepreneurship club SIFE BCIT which focuses on student collaboration and entrepreneurial outreach to the local community. He previously worked for a boutique investment bank that dealt with mergers, acquisitions and business valuations, where he analysed business plans and looked for start up companies with potential for growth.

As a research associate James will be promoting BCIT’s talented instructors and technology research team through the Commercialization Assistance Programs (CAPs). These programs will advance innovative ideas and products from BCIT and from local BC companies and individuals. The key objectives of the program are:
