About Program Advising

Program Advisors can answer most questions about most programs - and if they can't answer a question, they'll find someone who can! They are able to provide information on:

• BCIT programs
• Application process
• How to be a competitive applicant
• Program start dates
• Trades wait list
• Job placement
• Student life
• Entrance requirements
• Upgrading
• Program costs
• Pre-entry test information
• Applying for transfer credit
• Entry level salaries.

Part-time Studies Program Advisors can help you make the most of being a part-time student. They are able to:

• Provide information on the various part-time programs offered.
• Assist with course selection and program planning.
• Help you through the process of applying for program declaration or making changes to an approved program.
• Help you with applying for course credit.

Both Full-time and Part-time Studies Program Advisors can provide a great deal of valuable information about BCIT and the programs offered, but they are not career counsellors. Prospective students with undefined goals may be referred to BCIT's career exploration courses. Additionally, Program Advisors do not evaluate educational documents for admission, transfer credit or credential equivalencies.

Program Advisors also participate in secondary school, college, and community liaison visits throughout the province and attend many of the BCIT evening information sessions.
