Our Mandate

Our mandate is to enhance Aboriginal learner's participation and success rate in polytechnic training. We provide support services for individuals of Status Indian, Non-Status Indian, Métis, Inuit, and Treaty ancestries.

Our services follow a sense of pride for Aboriginal students through our department’s holistic approach.

  We will:
Excellence Provide culturally sensitive support to all students.
Timelines Provide services within specified parameters.
Communications  Work closely with all BCIT staff, students, and communities to enhance Aboriginal learners’ participation and success rate.
Responsiveness Make an appointment within two business days.

Process referrals, tutoring services and front desk services within one business day.

Handle drop-ins immediately depending on staff availability.
Accessibility Provide an up-to-date website.

Be a visible part of community events.
Commitment Provide available, empathetic, and exemplary services.
